Hoisam Sensu

The sensu, which originated in Japan (there are various theories about their origin), have been loved all over the world throughout history for their elegance and functionality.

During the Kamakura period, folding fans had already been introduced to Europe, where they evolved in their own unique way and are known as "yosen."

In 17th century Paris, there were as many as 150 fan shops, and the industry was so prosperous that a fan cooperative was even established.

There seems to be a history of people communicating through gestures using fans at balls, which shows that it was deeply rooted in European culture at the time.
