Japan's pride and natural monument, the Tosa dog, at your feet.
This special pair of socks incorporates the history of the "Sukajan" jacket, which was born in postwar Japan, into modern socks. The motif this time is the "Tosa dog", which was designated a national natural monument in 1937.
A Tosa dog dressed in a Japanese style sits majestically on a black body. The pink peony motif gives this miniature Sukajan a powerful yet playful look.
The inherited spirit of Japonism
Japonism, the Japanese aesthetic sense that astonished the world during the Meiji era, was passed down in the postwar Sukajan jacket and is now being reborn in a new form.
The Sukajan began as a jacket decorated with oriental embroidery of eagles, tigers, dragons, etc. as a souvenir for stationed American soldiers, and in the 1950s it became an official supply item at U.S. military bases. Eventually, it came to be loved by young people in Japan as "Sukajan" around Yokosuka Base. The history of this historic garment is expressed in one pair of shoes.
Respect for the Tosa dog, attention to detail
The motif is the Tosa dog, a medium-sized Japanese dog with upright ears and a curled tail that is close to the original dog breed and has lived as a companion to the Japanese people since prehistoric times.
They are the embodiment of the samurai spirit, enduring simple food, being obedient to their master, and bravely facing foreign enemies.
The cuffs are made of a brushed material that replicates the cuffs of a traditional Sukajan jacket. The red lines on the black background are reminiscent of a real Sukajan jacket. We've designed it so that you can enjoy the texture of a Sukajan jacket even on your feet.
New styling possibilities
If you let them peek out from under your denim or chino pants, you can create a subtle and unique look. You can also pair them with sandals for a stylish look and enjoy a modern Japanese look. They also work well as a hidden accent.
Enjoy this one-of-a-kind pair of shoes that combines Japanese tradition with modern street culture.
