The secret of asamerry

asamerry is a 100% cotton material truly suited for underwear, characterized by a crisp, dry touch similar to linen and outstanding breathability.
Using a unique, highly twisted yarn (hard-twisted yarn) and a special knitting method, it minimizes the surface area in contact with the skin and creates pathways for air, ensuring that even in sweaty seasons, it doesn't feel sticky and provides a light, refreshing fit that has been loved for over 70 years.
The key to creating the "crisp and dry touch" characteristic of asamerry is yarn that has been highly twisted and then gas-singed to remove fuzz.
Using a unique method, the yarn is created by twisting it tightly, and then the fuzz on the finished ultra-fine two-ply yarn is carefully burned off with gas. This delicate processing of the yarn results in a beautiful, smooth surface, creating a refreshing yarn with a "crisp and dry touch."

Uses high-grade extra-long staple cotton for the yarn material

Only carefully selected natural materials are used. The basis of asamerry is extra-long staple cotton, which has fine, long, and supple individual fibers. When each fiber is fine, it is possible to spin a thin yarn, allowing for the creation of supple products that are gentle on the skin.
asamerry is a material that uses ultra-fine count yarn that is further hard-twisted,
and then gas-singed to burn off fuzz, bringing out an elegant luster.
In the world of underwear, products using such luxurious materials do exist.
However, it has almost never been used for socks.

HOiSUM focused not on how to survive the summer, but on how to live with it,
and on whether we could provide comfort rather than just endurance.

asamerry is a material that can convey coolness not through "numbers," but through "sensation."

The HOiSUM asamerry collaboration began with a desire to give form to the essence of asamerry.
We are using rare yarn, which is a precious material, and knitting it with knitting machines that are rare even on a global scale.

As we proceeded with the knitting, the reason why became clear.
It was a material that was physically extremely difficult to mass-produce or commercialize stably.
The process management required to finish a single pair was incredibly delicate, and after repeating many prototypes, we finally reached completion.

There are many products where the dedication of the creator is difficult to convey.
Even so, we feel this pair is different.
It's something you understand the moment you slide your foot in: a culmination of the traditional Japanese technology and innovation we are proud of.
We have succeeded in giving shape to that crystallization.

  • asamerry Chunky Pile

    We adopted a mid-gauge pile and finished it in colors characteristic of HOiSUM.
    The cuff uses glossy cotton. The inner side uses a looped pile knit made from asamerry yarn.

    While being smooth cotton, we finished it with a dry-touch, crisp feel, realizing a unique texture different from that of Japanese paper or linen.
    It is a pair that allows you to feel an indescribable sensation the moment you put your foot in.

    The inner side uses cotton with a clear surface and minimal fuzz, providing a crisp, dry touch.
    This is the same highly reliable material used in actual asamerry products.
    For the outer side, we have combined cotton that is resistant to fuzzing even with a fine count.

    Designed to be airy, resistant to stuffiness, and tough enough to be worn for a long time even though it is thin.
    Because it is a high-gauge pile knit, the moderate fit, the material's texture, and its comfort stand out.

    Because they are basic ribbed socks, we finished them with a knit texture that conveys the quality of the material when worn, even if it is not immediately apparent at a glance.
    It is a mid-gauge knit pushed as close to high-gauge as possible, making it a thickness that is easy to use regardless of the outfit.
    With the dry touch unique to asamerry, they do not stick to the skin, and the comfort continues even after a long time.
    While having a crisp and dry touch, they do not have the stiffness or quirks of linen; they provide a gentle, elegant comfort that makes the most of the characteristics of cotton.
