Beyond the boundaries between art and fashion.
A collaboration between HOiSUM and leading Japanese artist Tadanori Yokoo.
This is a series of illustrations created by Tadanori Yokoo for the newspaper serialization of the historical novel "Genka" by novelist Harumi Setouchi (now known as Jakucho Setouchi) from 1974 to 1975.
The motifs of skulls and snakes, expressed with intricate line drawings, symbolically depict the universal theme of death and rebirth, giving the story a deeper meaning. This pair of shoes reinterprets that innovative expression as a modern fashion item.
The motif of a skull and snake is drawn in delicate monochrome lines on a pale color scheme based on mint green. The story-rich composition, with a snake crawling out of the grass and a skull standing silently, is carefully reproduced using Yokoo's unique experimental techniques and detailed depictions using the latest printing technology. The contrast between the soft green tones and black adds an elegant accent to any outfit.
This pair of shoes can be worn with a variety of styles, including sneakers and dress shoes. This special item brings the worldview of Yokoo's art, born from the intersection of literature and art in the 1970s, into modern fashion.
HOiSUM offers a new way to enjoy art, incorporating the symbolic motifs that bring stories to life into your everyday life.
