[Collage explanation]
The collages are primarily made up of Life magazines, and what's interesting is that the printouts are often torn by hand rather than cut with scissors.
The direct reason was that it became too much of a hassle to carefully cut the outline with scissors,
The texture of the tears creates a unique effect, blurring the edges of the image.
In Tadanori Yokoo's work, the image is torn away from its original location [ cat ],
The so-called "collage" technique, in which new content is pasted into a new context, is used extensively.
This is not unrelated to the fact that Yokoo started out as a graphic designer,
As the artist himself says, "Perhaps life itself is a collage."
"Collage" has gone beyond being merely a technique; it has become an ideological pillar of Yokoo's art.
